Yeah i'm agree
that in mathematics there are two kind of mathematics, that are horizontal math
and vertical math. We usually called this with iceberg concept.
The vertical
math is the mathematic of the gods (gods here i mean someone who already very
expert with math), and the horizontal math is the mathematics in daily life.
Which one is children mathematics? Of course it's the horizontal one.
The language in
vertical math and horizontal math is completely different. If we use the
language of vertical math in horizontal math, it will become a big problem for
the children (even it maybe can make the children going crazy). So, when we are
have communication about math with children, we must use their language. We
should approach them with mathematics of their world.
Once again, it's
prove that communication has a very important role. It still number one :)
